Dr. Sebastian Stier

As a physicist and computer engineer with 15 years of experience in the high-tech industry, in which he has regularly worked with international teams and in foreign countries, Sebastian Stier combines in-depth knowledge of a range of technologies with a comprehensive understanding of their economic and strategic implications. After his PhD thesis on image processing and artificial intelligence he started his career as software developer for image processing and video communication at Siemens Corporate Technology and in this capacity also represented Siemens before the MPEG standardization organization. Throughout his further career he gained extensive experience in technology management as project leader for technology audits and innovation management. At Siemens Mobile Phones he was responsible for the integration of the newly acquired development site at Aalborg/Denmark. In 2005 Sebastian came to a Munich-based IP law firm and in 2009 qualified as a European patent attorney. He focuses his practice on patent examination, opposition, appeal and infringement proceedings in the technical fields of telecommunications (in particular mobile) and the corresponding standards, computer implemented inventions as well as electronics and mechanics.
